Cadet Johnathan Jordan

Cadet Johnathan T. Jordan distinguished himself through outstanding achievement and heroic actions while enrolled as a cadet in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 592, University of North Carolina at Charlotte. On 22 December 2025, Cadet Jordan demonstrated exceptional initiative and courage when he witnessed and responded to a fire involving a residence and detached structure. Without hesitation, Cadet Jordan contacted the local fire department dispatch and immediately donned the limited fire protection equipment available in his personal vehicle. He then proceeded to the scene, where he actively worked to locate and assist in evacuating any residents and pets from the inhabited home.

After attempting to alert the occupants from outside, Cadet Jordan forcibly entered the residence and initiated search and rescue procedures. Upon entry, he rapidly assessed the environment and determined the occupants were asleep in a bedroom. He successfully evacuated the residents and subsequently located and rescued two dogs that remained in danger both inside and outside the home. After ensuring all persons and animals were safely removed, Cadet Jordan coordinated with the responding fire department upon their arrival. He was later treated for minor burns sustained to his face.

In recognition of his extraordinary heroism, selfless service, and decisive leadership in a life-threatening situation, Cadet Jordan was awarded the Gold Valor Award, the highest honor bestowed within Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. The distinctive accomplishments of Cadet Jordan reflect great credit upon himself, Detachment 592, and the United States Air Force.
